Writing about crime

We've been talking about crime in classes recently, so I'd like you to write a little bit about any brushes you have had with the law. Have you ever committed a crime, or have you ever been the victim of crime? I twice had my wallet purse stolen from my bag on the underground when I lived in Lisbon - I think they target people who look like tourists in the hope that they have a lot of money. They must have been disappointed in both cases because I was neither a tourist, nor had a lot of money. After that I started to walk round Lisbon. It was safer. Luckily nothing more serious has happened to me, and I think the only crime I ever committed was to leave my car parked too long in an area with a 30 minute time limit. I had to pay a fine, but it wasn't much.
To write about your experience you can click on new post, write in a title, then type in your story and click on publish post at the bottom of the page. I look forward to hearing from you all-
Carolyn

Hi!

I'm going to write a little phrases about crime.
Well, I am not inocent about this adjective, because I have read a lot of histories about crimes
So I think this is the bad thing that everyone can do.
And I think that all crime depend on people behavous.
Meantime, that isn't easy to talk and write about it.Because it has many different comments.
That's all I have to say about crime.
Thank you very much and I'm very sorry about my mistakes in English.

What do you mean Mandela! Have you committed a crime then?

As it happened to Carolyn, I had my wallet purse stolen from my bag on the underground and on the bus too.
But talking about crime there's an "illegal" moment in my life, but quite crimeless. I was at Pull and Bear with my best friend putting on a t-shirt when suddenly I realise that it had a pin stitched on it, almost falling. The pin was pretty cool and I thought to myself "who cares?!” . My friend told me to go ahead!!And so, I took the pin with me, inside my bag!
My first and only crime until now!!! And I don't pretend to commit any other ones.

Oh dear, and I thought it was only tourists they targeted. This pin you took - was it part of the t-shirt then?

No... I took the pin without the t.shirt! That was the crime I commited.

Hi Calolyn!
I haven't never committed a crime, but, there was about twenty years ago,I was victim of a crime in Lisbon.I twice had my wallet purse and my keys (home) stolen from my bag, once in Baixa-Chiado and later on the underground, when, at the end of the working day, I was coming back to home.
I think the thief had observed my bag and found out that to steal it was very easy and he was right!...
Fortunately, at that time I hadn't yet got a credit card and on those two days, as usually,my wallet purse was quite empty.
Nowadays I can still remember about my feelings when that happened to me. I was very angry (I hated the thief) and unsafe.
Best wishes.
Isabel

Hi Isabel,
So the same thing happened to you as to me - bad luck. But I suppose we learn something, even from the bad things that happen to us. Now if I travel on the underground and it's very busy I clutch my bag to my chest - nobody can steal anything that way!

Hello
I'm going to tell you another crime story with a happy ending.
A few years ago - four or five years - one of my colleagues was hanging out in a shopping mall (Vasco da Gama ) when she saw an arm into her bag
which was hung om her left shoulder. Immediately, she lift her right arm and beat strongly with her clenched fist on the theft's face.
Surprisingly, the theft, who was also a woman, didn't react and disappeared running straight away without taking anything with her.
A few seconds passed, my colleague realized she was completely alone - nobody had approached to help her - and she felt very nervous because the theft would can follow her and do damage, but, fortunately, at the end, anything bad hadn't happened.
I recognize my colleague's courage and I appreciate it very much, but I think her behaviour can also be considered very risky.
Bye.

Hi Isabel,
I'm beginning to think Lisbon isn't as safe as I thought it was. Maybe I should arm myself with my umbrella at all times to beat off possible thieves!

Hi Carolyn
It's a fun joke!I'm laughing with pleasure !I'm sure you are all right!I agree with you about the umbrella - it's an efficient arm that will frighten the most dangerous theft in the world and it will enrich its manufacturers, when they realize that.In future, I'm going to buy two or tree, or more than those, umbrellas from different sizes and I'll start to take one of them with me, everyday.
..
Bye
Isabel

Dear Isabel,
People might think you were a bit odd if you walked around Lisbon in August with 3 umbrellas. They would probably lock you up somewhere.
